Porcelain Veneers Overview
Cosmetic dentistry can offer aesthetic as well as some functional or restorative solutions. One of the most flexible of all options in this area is porcelain veneers. Able to improve the look of a chipped or cracked tooth, it is also something that bonds to that tooth, strengthening it and giving it the fullest function possible. At Authentic Smiles in Austin, TX, we are able to provide dental veneers, but with the added advantage of them being same-day veneers.
As a preferred dentist in Austin, TX we understand that dental veneers are frequently used to address many different issues. As we already mentioned, they are great for treating a tooth that has been mildly cracked or chipped. However, you can visit your cosmetic dentist and discuss porcelain veneers as a solution to:
- Mildly to moderately gapped teeth
- Teeth that are of uneven size or length
- Gummy smiles
- Mild to moderately misaligned teeth
- Deeply discolored teeth that will not improve with whitening
We are happy to meet with you to discuss your cosmetic dentistry needs, and to determine if porcelain veneers are the ideal fit to your goals and budget. If so, we can begin the process at once.
Traditional porcelain veneers tend to require two or more visits to the dental office. Our system allows us to use modern technologies to create your custom veneers in a single visit. The process for creating and placing them is always the same, though, and we will first assess your teeth and gums to ensure they are in good health.
If no general, preventative or other care is needed, we can then use our technologies to design individual veneers for the tooth, or teeth that need to be corrected. We will then create the thin enamel shell(s) that will be applied to your teeth. Naturally, your teeth must be properly prepared to receive dental veneers, and usually this requires little more than the removal of a bit of the enamel or some shaping of the tooth.
Once the teeth have been prepared, we can apply and bond your same-day veneers to the teeth. You can literally enter our office and leave with a new smile on the very same day. While veneers are not the solution for everyone, they do answer many different cosmetic needs.
