State-of-the-Art-Technology
Authentic Smiles Dentistry is the most technology advanced dentistry in the Austin area, and is the first and only dentistry to offer Neuromuscular, Cosmetic and General Dentistry services under the same roof.

As a progressive dentist, Dr. Shane Matt actively seeks new technologies and products that enhance the health, comfort and protection of his patients. He was the first dentist in the area to offer such products as CEREC Same Day Veneers and Crowns, OraVerse™ Quick Anesthetic reversal and Pure Power Mouthguards to his clients, and he continues to look for new technologies to improve his client’s dental experience. Dentistry has changed dramatically over the years, and Dr. Shane Matt is Austin’s foremost expert on leading technologies that benefit you, his client. Take a few minutes to learn more about the technology available and why it’s important for you to consider for your dental care.

Digital Radiography (X-rays)

Digital x-rays are a more modern approach to taking x-rays. Digital x-rays produce 90% less radiation, and are more environmentally friendly than the older film x-rays. Digital x-rays allow the images to be viewed instantly without having to wait for the film to be processed and mounted. The images can be viewed instantly, magnified, and colorized allowing doctors to provide more precise, comprehensive diagnosis and care.

Soft Laser Tissue

The soft-tissue laser, a pen-like device that emits gentle pulses of light, enables us to perform many procedures without anesthesia. We can treat painful ulcers in less than five minutes. The soft-laser tissue can also be used to contour gum tissue, eliminating the post-operative trauma usually associated with conventional electro surgery for sculpting the gingival tissues.

Jaw Tacking and Joint Sonography

The K7 Evaluation System is a computer-based system for 3D jaw tracking, surface electromyography and temporomandibular joint sound study. This system provides us with three technologies for measuring, displaying and storing objective data on physiologic and anatomical status and function: jaw tracking, electromyography and joint sonography. This objective data enhances our diagnostic and treatment considerations with information not previously available.

Environmental Consciousness

As part of our commitment to the environment, we are one of only a few offices in Texas with a mercury filtration system. Our device will prevent mercury lamp waste from entering the Edwards Aquifer and its sensitive ecosystem.

CEREC Technology

CEREC Technology minimizes number of visits to the dental office and allows Dr. Shane Matt to fabricate crowns and veneers within the office, in a single visit. Gone are the days of wearing a temporary restoration for weeks while an offsite lab creates your final restoration. Dr. Matt’s artistic eye, combined with CEREC technology, allows patients to leave with beautiful, porcelain restorations–eliminating the need for patients to make multiple trips to the dental office.

Whisper-Quiet Technology

We use whisper-quiet electric hand pieces. They turn 50% slower than the traditional air-driven hand pieces (which produce the unpleasant high-pitched sound commonly associated with dental office visits). Electric hand pieces also reduce friction-related heat and post-operative sensitivity.
